I now offer courses directly, as well as through the Honolulu Museum of Art School.
My course offerings are as follows~
Painting and Drawing the Portrait
Now in it’s eighth year, this is an ongoing traditional class of extended poses using live portrait subjects, both male and female, which are changed every 3 -5 sessions. I’m present at every session and often draw and paint alongside the students.
Tuesday 6:00 to 9:00 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School, Room 203

Life Drawing Studio
A weekly session in drawing the figure from the living model, a keystone practice of artists through the ages. Regular demonstrations and instruction in materials, techniques, measuring, anatomy and all things related to creating good drawings. I’m present at each session, and draw alongside my students.
A good interview on my approach to instruction is featured here.
Thursday 6:00 to 9:00 at the Honolulu Museum of Art, Room 201.

The Gang of Six
The Gang is a group limited to six artists, a mix of watercolor and oil painters, who meet Wednesday mornings, bi-monthly, at outdoor locations. This group is focused on composing and creating effective outdoor paintings based on strategies that rely on preparation and planning to optimize the material Nature offers. Homework assignments are given and critiqued. Primarily for experienced painters, we do welcome new members when there are openings.
